Kantara: Chapter 1 is a 2025 Indian Kannada-language epic length mythological motion drama film[6][7][8] written and directed via Rishab Shetty, and produced by using Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda beneath Hombale Films. The movie stars Rishab Shetty alongside with Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah. A prequel to the 2022 movie Kantara, The story delves deeper into the origins of the culture and ancestral war added in the first film.[9][10]

Set in pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, the movie explores the historical roots of the Bhuta Kola ritual and the lore and records explored in the first movie launched in 2022. Like its predecessor, the prequel blends regional folklore, spirituality, and action, persevering with the saga of man's relationship with nature and the divine.[11][12]

Filming started out in November 2023. The first appear and teaser used to be released on 27 November 2023.[13][14] The publicity poster used to be designed through Kaani Studio.[15][16] B. Ajaneesh Loknath composed the soundtrack and history score.
