A bit too melodramic - however accelerated through some appropriate performances
This is a household film and standard tamil drama ( that is it is lot of emotions, loud bgms, rather illogical behaviour and a complete heap of cliches)

So I had clear appreciation going into the film and the film had all - a bit too cliched and climax and pre- climax used to be ridiculously over dramatic ( worse than TV soaps )

The spotlight of the film has been the performances - Soori, Aishwarya Lakshmi and Swasika and the shock bundle of Baba Bhasker all have been actually top - in particular Soori and Baba Bhasker (though his display screen time low )

Had the pre-climax be higher and ending a bit greater paced ( it occurs too all at once - the total area of pre-climax round their grandparents may want to have been trimmed or excluded and given greater depth and element to the resolution) - the film would have been above average.

A Good film to watch
The first 1/2 of Maaman contains its share of narrative lags, but by hook or by crook in no way loses its rhythm. Despite occasional dips in momentum, it sustains viewer engagement with simply adequate allure and curiosity. It's the 2d half, however, that without a doubt shifts the emotional gears - a poignant, stirring trip that strikes a chord with even the most stoic hearts. This emotional surge elevates the movie from a satisfactory journey to a simply touching, feel-good watch, worthwhile of a one-time sit-down.

Through heartfelt performances and nuanced storytelling in its latter half, Maaman finds its emotional depth and can provide a message that lingers. Not flawless, however certainly memorable.
